11 Steps For Healthy Baby Hair

11 Steps For Healthy Baby Hair

There are many things that affect the overall health of your baby, and hair care is one of them. Choosing the right shampoo, how you wash the hair, the cut, drying and combing of hair all affect its health. So it is important to follow these steps for healthy baby hair and scalp.
- Washing your baby’s hair too often may result in dry hair and dandruff, to stop this occurring limit the hair washing to two or three times a week only.
- Wash the hair and head very delicately.
- Try and wash the shampoo away as quickly as possible so the baby doesn’t get shocked or scared from the foam.
- When washing the hair make your hand support your baby’s head and neck with the other hand.
- Use conditioner if the baby’s hair is coarse or unmanageable.
- After the shower brush your baby’s hair with a wide toothed comb or a brush with soft bristles as the head is still wet and is delicate. Make sure you brush the hair even if it’s thin or fine to stimulate the hair follicles and prevent dandruff from forming.
- Your child’s scalp is very sensitive at this stage and may turn red or affect the skin if you do not brush the hair properly. Make sure you move the brush using small, delicate, soft strokes, even on unwashed hair.
- Very young babies don’t need their hair cut often, cut only if the hair is near their eyes or affecting their vision.
- The best time to cut your baby’s hair is when he/she is in a happy mood. If the child is in a bad mood then it will become impossible to get them to sit still.
- Wet the hair before cutting it and give the child a game or toy to keep them busy.
- If your child’s hair is fine then make sure you protect the head and scalp with a hat.
