My Grandmother’s Beauty Advice

My Grandmother’s Beauty Advice

Whenever I was feeling down because I had a huge zit on face, grandma would always tell me to dab some toothpaste on it. At first I thought it was ridiculous but as I Googled all those beauty tips I’ve been disregarding, I found out that beauty back in the 70’s meant INSANE! Here’s what nana said:
1. If you want to boost your dark hair color, rinse it with coffee brew. Apply the coffee brew to your scalp, leave it on for 30 minutes while combing and then rinse it off with shampoo and warm water. If you're a blonde use chamomile + yogurt instead. As for redheads, use beet juice+ carrot juice.
2. Have a pimple? Dry it out using toothpaste. Apply the toothpaste on for 10 minutes then wash off with warm water. You could also use lemon juice and water; they will dry it out for you as well.
3. Oops, you ran out of shaving cream! No problem, don’t use soap which will leave your skin dry and itchy, instead use conditioner. Using conditioner instead of shaving cream keeps your skin moisturized where your razor won’t be able to tell the difference.
4. Do you suffer from nail biting? Well, try soaking your nails in some hot sauce for 5 minutes daily. It should work if you have the will to stop the nasty habit. Also buy a really expensive bottle of nail polish and a nail kit (preferably Sally Hansen) to help you enjoy taking care of your nails.
5. Bushy brows: brush your eye brows with a tooth brush to get rid of the skin flakes underneath them. To style your brows, apply a drop of baby oil or Vaseline and brush them into submission (just don’t put on too much, you don’t wanna break out).
6. Stop sniffing your hair and spritz some perfume on your brush. If the odor is too intense, run a newspaper through your hair (the ink in the paper will absorb any bad smell).
7. Don’t throw away your old perfume bottles! Leave them un-opened in your closet/ towel cabinet; the materials will catch a glimpse of the scent you loved. This can also work with fragranced soap.
8. Ran out of scrub? Run to the kitchen and mix sugar + olive oil + liquid soap. If you have oily skin, skip the oil part and use more soap instead. The mixture will leave you with baby smooth skin in no time.
9. Lash curlers: sometimes lashes refuse to curl no matter how hard you push the curler tongs together. In that case, heat the curler with a blow dryer first for a few minutes then immediately hold it to your lashes.
10. Bye-bye panda! Dark circles and puffy eyes can really transform the way you look. To get rid of both, grind some cucumber skin (or potato) and apply it on the area around your eyes to cover it completely. Rest for half an hour then wash it off with some warm water.
I know that most of the tips might seem a little bit wacky for you to believe but they actually do work (tried them all myself). Next time you’re around your younger sister or cousin, don’t hesitate to pass them on.
