With an aim to redefine the cupcakes in the Gulf, by baking cupcakes that tastes as good as it looks, Bloomsbury’s, a boutique cafe has now unveiled what is described as the world’s most expensive ‘edible’ cupcake, The Golden Phoenix, at the official opening of its new franchise at The Dubai Mall in Dubai. Taking more of a realistic approach, Bloomsbury’s presented this expensive edible cupcake using the real meaning of the words ‘let them eat cake’, rather than encrusting it with diamonds to make it ultra-expensive and not eatable. However, falling in the expensive category, we have earlier seen cupcakes like the Mervis Fantasy Diamond cupcake festooned with eight ideal cut round brilliant diamonds, the sparkling red velvet cupcake for the Valentine’s Day, and the world’s most expensive cupcake, which was especially crafted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Since1910’s jewelry store.

Brainchild of the entrepreneur and culinary connoisseur Shafeena Yusuff Ali, Bloomsbury’s has collaborated with London’s most fashionable bakery Bea’s of Bloomsbury, to bring in the taste of London to Dubai with its boutique cupcakes and confectioneries along with world renowned coffees and teas.
The baker’s actually rolled out the The Golden Phoenix on an exquisite Italian, Villari gold-plated 24-carat Maria Antoinette princess tea trolley and presented on 24-carat gold painted Empire Morning Cake Stand with Cloch. Interestingly, the unveiling of The Golden Phoenix presentation exceeded a total of $28,000.

And, to make this most expensive edible cupcake, Shafeena Yusuff Ali actually spent several weeks perfecting the recipe's taste and the cupcake's décor, and then finalized the five expensive ingredients. The finest of ingredients used, includes Doves organic floor and Rachels organic butter from England, Premium Amedei Porcelena cocoa from Italy, Gold Ugandan high quality vanilla beans and 23-carat edible gold sheets.

And, the Bloomsbury’s new boutique café in Dubai actually marks the 1 year anniversary of the brand which opened its doors to food lovers last year at the Al Wahda Mall, Abu Dhabi, followed by second store at Mushriff Mall.
