Dubai: An Afghani who confessed to murdering an Iraqi man was arrested one hour after the crime, a senior police official said.
Brigadier Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), told Gulf News on Tuesday that the Afghani man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning in the International City area.
Brigadier Al Mansouri said the suspect was apprehended at 4am by police patrols.
“The crime control patrols were on their daily work [when] they saw a four-wheel drive car in the International City area. It [appeared] that the driver was not [in full control of] the car,” he said.
Police stopped the car and found a man with stab wounds and covered in blood.
The suspect immediately admitted to killing an Iraqi man.
He claimed he had killed the victim after he tried to have sex with him.
“The Afghani took police to a shop located in a building in International City and he showed them the body of the Iraqi,” Brigadier Al Mansouri said.
Police say the man Afghani worked illegally for the Iraqi.
“The body was in the shop owned by the victim himself. We are not sure about the motives of the crime and we are investigating his claims,” Brigadier Al Mansouri said
