Dark Souls 2 announced, coming for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360
Fans of the masochistic, unforgiving action-RPG rejoice! You're going to die all over, again…
At the dawn of Spike TV's VGA 2012, Namco Bandai officially revealed the existence of a sequel to its 2011 infuriatingly punishing death simulator, Dark Souls.
Developed at Japanese studio From Software, the new Dark Souls follow-up, as suitably titled Dark Souls 2, introduces players to a new hero who battles through an 'unfamiliar world… filled with death and despair'.
Thankfully From Software is apparently not risking much in changing the excruciating, yet compelling journeys players have treated to in the previous Souls games. As such, Dark Souls 2 draws inspiration from the celebrated franchise and promises 'uncompromising challenge and ultimate sense of empowerment,' and 'continue a legacy of presenting its passionate fans with the kind of unrelenting challenges that have become a hallmark of the series'.

Series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki is said to be overseeing production but this time around he'll be holding the role of a supervisory, whereas Tomohiro Shibuya, the man who have previously worked with Capcom on the Monster Hunter games, will step into the director's chair. A release date has not been given, though the game is being developed for current-gen consoles as well as PC.
