Remember the fancy OLED display technology Samsung showed many moons ago that could bend and fold into any shape you wanted it to? Yeah, it was futuristic back then, but according to this BBC report, it might soon become a reality.
Apparently, Samsung's production capabilities are strong enough for the company to release their first flexible smartphone by next year. The report also notes that other companies like LG, Nokia and Sony are also on track to release similar devices.
The benefit of such a display technology will be durability, and of course, the size, the thinness.
This is certainly good news for consumers; any new technology that can change how we use and interact with people is always good. It's not so good news for wrist watch makers because come on, who will ever wear a watch now when their 'flexible' watch can have a wallpaper, take photos, and show Facebook updates?
